  • It’s a Toss Up

    It’s a Toss Up

Coming in the future, there are many improvements the NFL will be enjoying.

Offensive Coordinators will build game plans with the AI they’ll be employing.

For the players in the league, there are changes coming for them too.

A safer helmet, cushier pads and a lace-less football shoe.

Here’s the one thing for me, a fan, that I’ll find most annoying.

Who gets to kickoff to start the game will be determined by the toss of a bitcoin!

  • Doing or Being?

    Doing or Being?

Observing society and reflecting on what I’m seeing.

There are many humans doing, but not so many being.

Focused on deadlines, commitments and achieving new goals.

Neglected is the care and feeding of their souls.

Let us spend more time to follow these simple tips:

Build an interior life, then emerge to build relationships.

  • Something Else

Some things are haunting and dismal, they just won’t leave me be.

Some days are dreary and dark,

    No sunshine do I see.

Though these things would plague me, if they had their way.

I overcome their effect by recalling a happier, brighter day.

I have reminders of goodness to drive away whatever brings me down.

As I reminisce of these things a smile grows where once there was a frown.

These memories that I treasure once created have no end.

They were given in your simple words as you said, “You are my friend.”

  • There’s Always Time

    There’s Always Time

When I was young, time was naught. It moved at glacial speed.

In middle-age, time was a tool, used to clothe and feed.

In later years, time is a gift, to be given to those we love.

Time is a seed, planted and grown, tended by The Gardener above.

  • No Practice

    No Practice

Life is impromptu . . . It cannot be rehearsed.

You fly by the seat of your pants . . . your course can’t be reversed.

Without a plan you wing it . . . satisfying an impulsive thirst.

Life is full of uncertainty . . . Eat your dessert first!

  • Maybe I’ll Change

    Maybe I’ll Change

I wanted a change of some kind.

Trade in my quartz watch for a self-wind?

Exchange my Cathode Ray Tube TV

and get the latest with QLED?

On second thought I’ll just change my mind.

  • An Account of Saving

    An Account of Saving

I went to visit Sunbank, just the other night.

Going to see my assets, my account of saved daylight.

The teller, she informed me, “You have a zero amount.”

The daylight I was saving was not in my account.

“This is a great dilemma, what a terrible plight!”

Then said the teller, “Open a new account to get a free flashlight.”

  • What, me change?

    What, me change?

    Change is all around us.

It comes from where it may.

Changes come during the night time,

    And sometimes during the day.

    We change our mind,

    We change our heart.

    We change when we end.

    and change when we start.

A woman marries a man, hoping he will change. But he doesn’t.

A man marries a woman, hoping she won’t change, but she does.

Sometimes we change for the better,

Sometimes we change for the worse.

    Sometimes change is a blessing.

    Sometimes change is a curse.

But the changes that are most frightening, those causing my skin to crawl.

Are the changes that are announced to be,  “a change you won’t notice at all.”

  • I Salute You!

    I Salute You!

Our homeland has changed, things are different, it’s not the same as before.

Leaders today serve themselves, there is interest in the people no more.

I swore to protect and defend our constitution, from enemies within and without.

I promised to obey the orders of the president and the officers appointed over me; I did so with no doubt.

Serving under leaders that I didn’t choose, is what, by oath I said I’d do.

I wasn’t just defending the constitution, I was protecting our way of life too.

At the start of each day, in days now long gone, when Ol’ Glory was run up the flagpole,

I saluted the flag and prayed to God, “Please keep our nation undivided and whole.”

I didn’t see the president or the officers when I honored the Red, White and Blue.

What I saw was my family, my friends and the thankful ones like you.

By your gratitude I’ve been blessed beyond hope, exceeding all human measure.

Your appreciation, your kind words, your thanks, are a veteran’s greatest treasure.

You thank me for what I’ve done. I thank you for what you do.

To keep our nation great requires a lot more people like YOU!

  • Power of Majic

    Power of Majic

When it comes to secret abilities I don’t want 9 lives like a domestic cat.

I’d like to have the power to pull a rabbit out of my hat.

Perhaps I’d be a contortionist and escaped from locked shackles and chains.

Then again I’d like to jump unharmed form airborne aero planes.

To possess such powerful abilities makes me rather afeared.

Did you notice; the great magicians and illusionists of the past have disappeared?
